Paula Badosa (Spain) started with a straight-set victory at the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. The Spanish tennis player eliminated Diana Shnaider (Russia) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) in match that lasted 1:42 hours.

Paula Badosa started the match strongly, winning her serve games without giving a breakpoint to her opponent. She had a chance to break already in the second game, but missed it. However, she did it in the fourth game to take a lead by 3:1. The 7th game was the cornerstone in the set, as Paula Badosa needed to save three breakpoints before winning it. Thus, she kept her lead by 5:2 and on her next serve closed the set at 6:3.

In the second set, both players won their serve games, although Paula Badosa needed to save three breakpoints in the fourth game. She received a chance for a break in the seventh game and did not missed to score it, taking a lead by 4:3. The Spanish player needed five match points to close the match, but at the end won it by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).

In the next round, Paula Badosa will face the second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus).

In another match from the first round of the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, the qualifier Sachia Vickery (USA) eliminated Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Belarus) by 2-0 (7:6, 7:5).
