Paula Badosa smashed Cori Coco Gauff to reach the Round of 16 at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa defeated the 6th-seeded Cori Coco Gauff (USA) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:0) in only 72 minutes and qualified for the 4th round of the WTA 1000 Madrid Open.

Both players exchanged a break at the start of the first set but Paula Badosa succeeded to break again in the 5th game to take a lead. She took a lead of 5:3 and Cori Coco Gauff served to remain in the set when the Spanish tennis player broke her on zero and closed the set at 6:3. Since then on the court there was only one player, as Paula Badosa gave only 8 points to her opponent, winning all the 6 games and closed the set on 6:0.

In the next round, Spanish top-ranked WTA player Paula Badosa will face the 9th-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece), who eliminated Rebeka Masarova (Spain) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:3, 6:3).

One of the biggest surprises of the day was the win of Mayar Sherif (Egypt) against 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) by 2-0 (7:6, 6:3) in 1:42 hours. In the next round, the Egyptian tennis player will face Elise Mertens (Belgium), who eliminated Jule Niemeier (Germany) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).
