Paula Badosa defeated Ajla Tomljanovic and qualified for the second round of AO 2022

The eighth-seeded Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa defeated Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic with 2-0 (6:4, 6:0) in the first round of the AO 2022.

The match lasted an hour and 22 minutes, with the first set being 55 minutes. The difference in the second set also came from the fact that Ajla Tomljanovic suffered an injury and had to take a medical break.

The match was full of breaks, with Paula Badosa making 7, while the Australian player making 3. The Spaniard made 7 aces.

“I want to thank all the people who supported me tonight. I appreciate that you stayed on the court until very late. I know that my opponent did not feel very well on the court, I wish her a fast recovery”, said Paula Badosa after the match.

In the next round, Paula Badosa will play against the Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan, who defeated the Japanese Nao Hibino with 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
