Patrizia van der Weken topped the world 60m rankings for the season

Patrizia van der Weken delighted her compatriots at the CMCM Indoor Meeting, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze meeting, in Luxembourg. The sprinter won the 60m gold, setting two national records in the event. In the heats, she ran 7.11 sec, and in the final, she once again improved her own achievement and topped the world rankings for the season with 7.09 sec.

Last season, only three European athletes ran faster and this performance further suggests Van der Weken could become the first athlete from Luxembourg to break the 11-second barrier in the 100m this summer. The 24-year-old athlete set a national record in the 100m of 11.02 sec.

At the CMCM Indoor Meeting, Patrizia van der Weken left Orlann Oliere (France) behind in the final in Luxembourg and Krystsina Tsimanouskaya (Poland), who finished third with a personal best of 7.21 sec.

The Top 5 in the 60m event were completed by Remona Burchell (Jamaica) and Melissa Gutschmidt (Switzerland).

Patrizia van der Weken is a Luxembourg athlete, who competes in sprints. She is a World University Games winner, European Team Championships 1st League winner, five-time national champion, and eight-time national indoor champion.
