The fourth-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Zhengzhou Open after defeating Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:6) in two hours of play.
The first set started with exchange of breaks and several long games, in which finally the Tunisian tennis player took a lead of 4:2. In the seventh game of the set, Ons Jabeur saved two breaks point to win her own serve and lead by 5:2, which at the end was enough to close the set at 6:3.
The second set was even more dramatic, although Tunisian tennis player lead by 5:2 and served for the match she suffered two breaks and the games were equalized to 5:5. Ons Jabeur reached another break to lead by 6:5 and served for the match for third time, but again her serve game was broken by Lucia Bronzetti. The set entered into a tiebreak, which finally Tunisian tennis player won by 7-5.
The 11th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova (Russia) dropped out of the tournament after losing to Laura Siegemund (Germany) by 1-2 (6:3, 2:6, 1:6) nd in the next round will face Jasmine Paolini (Italy), who eliminated the 6th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) after 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 7:5).
Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) also qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament after eliminated the Russian tennis veteran Vera Zvonareva by 2-0 (7:5, 6:1) and will face Qinwen Zheng (China), who defeated the 3rd-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece) by 2-0 (7:6, 6:3).
Earlier, Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine) defeated Donna Vekic (Croatia) by 2-0 (7:6, 7:6).
