The fifth-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) advanced to the third round of the US Open after defeating the Czech talent Linda Noskova by 2-1 (7:6, 4:6, 6:3) in 2:10 hours of play.
The Tunisian tennis player made three double faults and recorded four breaks out of six possible. Linda Noskova, on the other hand, made four aces, three double faults and also reached four breaks.
In the third round of the US Open, Ons Jabeur will face another representative of Czech tennis – Marie Bouzkova, who so far eliminated Ashlyn Krueger (USA) and Petra Martic (Croatia) without losing a single set.
Daria Kasatkina (Russia) also advanced to the third round after eliminated Sofia Kenin (USA) by 2-1 (2:6, 6:4, 6:4), while Greet Minnen (Belgium) defeated Sachia Vickery (USA) by 2-1 (6:3, 4:6, 6:4).
The 3rd-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA) defeated Patricia Maria Tig (Romania) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) and in the next round will face Elina Svitolina (Ukraine), who eliminated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) by 2-1 (5:7, 6:4, 6:4).
