Ons Jabeur and Victoria Azarenka advanced to the quarter-finals in Adelaide

Top-seeded Ons Jabeur and Victoria Azarenka qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Adelaide International 1. Both did not have serious problems and won with straight-set victories.

The top-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) defeated Sorana Cirstea (Romania) with 2-0 (7:6, 6:1) for 79 minutes. The Tunisian tennis player had problems only in the first set, in which both exchanged two breaks, but finally played a tiebreak, which Ons Jabeur won by 7-3.

In the quarter-finals, Ons Jabeur will face Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine), who eliminated the Wimbledon 2022 champion Elena Rybakina (Kazahstan) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:2, 6:3).

Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) defeated Qinwen Zheng (China) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:5) in 1:40 hours. The Belarusian player had problems in the second set, when Qinwen Zheng took a lead with a break, but succeeded to equalize and won another break in the very last game, which closed the match.

In the quarter-finals, Victoria Azarenka will face Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic), who defeated Kaia Kanepi (Estonia) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:4).

In the other matches of the WTA 500 Adelaide International 1 tournament, Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) eliminated Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:0), while Linda Noskova (Czech Republic) defeated Claire Liu (USA) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:2)
