Emma Abotnes is Norwegian track and field athlete, who competed in sprints and hurdles, as well as combined events. She is Norwegian U17 champion and Norwegian U20 vice-champion. Although being one of the biggest talents in the country, she stopped her competitive athletics career in 2020.
Emma Abotnes was born on February 4, 2002. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great skills and talent in sprints and hurdles. She developed her talent at school winning plenty of medals at regional championships.
Emma Abotnes started her competitive athletics career in 2016, winning the 200m gold at the Nadderud U15 Meeting. During the next season, she won her first junior national title, triumphing with the 200m gold at the Rud Norwegian U16 Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, she earned the 60m bronze at the Malmo Pallasspelen and 100m gold at the Bergen U16 Meeting.
In 2018, Emma Abotnes won the 100m gold and 200m silver at the Overhalla Norwegian U17 Championships, as well as the 200m silver at the Oslo Norwegian U20 Championships. During the season, she debuted at the Byrkjelo Norwegian Championships in 100m, but did not overcome the heats. She competed also at the Gyor European U18 Championships in 200m and 1000m sprint medley, but also did not qualify for the finals. Meanwhile, she won the 200m silver medals at the Guteborg Varldsungdomsspele U17 Event and Sandnes Wind Sprint, as well as the 100m gold at the Lillehammer Veidekkelekene U17 Event.
Emma Abotnes continue competing in 2018, but an injury lowered her results and she did not overcome the heats at the Jessheim Norwegian U18 Championships. Meanwhile, she won the gold at the Norna Lekene U18 Meeting and the silver at the Pingvinlekene U18 Meeting.
Emma Abotnes had one more official competition in 2020 after which she ended her athletics career although being one of the biggest Norwegian athletics.
