Andrea Rooth is a Norwegian track and field athlete, who competes in hurdles. She is a European U20 and U23 champion, as well as an 11-time national champion.
Andrea Billie Rooth was born on March 6, 2002. She started in athletics at an early age and showed great skills in the long jump and running. Later she specialized in hurdles.
Andrea Rooth started her competitive career in 2015, competed at the Goteborg Varldsungdomsspelen in the long jump, but finished 5th. She gained more experience during the next season and in 2017 earned the bronze at the Rud Norwegian U16 Indoor Championships in 60m and at the Goteborg Varldsungdomsspelen in 300m hurdles.
In 2018, Andrea Rooth started the indoor season by winning the gold at the Steinkjer Norwegian U17 Indoor Championships in 200m, as well as at the Uddevalla Meeting in 60m hurdles. During the outdoor season, she tried in combined events, competing in heptathlon at the Jessheim Nordic U18 Combined Events Championships, but failed to record successful final results. However, at the Overhalla Norwegian U17 Championships during the outdoor season, Andrea Rooth earned the 200m and 300m hurdles gold, while at the Goteborg Varldsungdomsspelen, she triumphed with the gold in 300m hurdles and 400m. Meanwhile, she started competing in 400m hurdles, which is currently her special event, winning the gold at the Fagernes Meeting, silver at the Larvik Meeting, as well as bronze at the Oslo Norwegian U20 Championships.
In 2019, Andrea Rooth earned the gold at the Ulsteinvik Norwegian U18 Indoor Championships in 60m, 200m, 400m, and 60m hurdles, as well as the bronze in the high jump. At the Jessheim Norwegian U18 Championships, she continued dominating Norwegian athletics, earning the gold in 100m, 100m hurdles, and long jump. Meanwhile, Andrea Rooth earned the heptathlon gold at the Geithus Norwegian U18 Combined Events Championships and finished 6th at the Uppsala Nordic U18 Combined Events Championships. She was part of Team Norway for the the Baku 15th European Youth Olympic Festival, where earned the silver in 400m hurdles and finished 5th in the medley relay. In 400m hurdles, she earned the gold at the Sigdal Norwegian U20 Championships and the silver at the Clean Air Games, but she also finished 5th at the Young Diamonds Challenge Weltklasse.
Andrea Rooth won her first national title in 2020, triumphing at the Bergen Norwegian Championships in 100m hurdles and also earned the silver in 400m hurdles. She smashed the competition at the Kristiansand Norwegian U20 Championships and Baerum Norwegian U20 Indoor Championships, winning the gold in 60m, 100m, 200m, 60m hurdles, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, as well as the silver and bronze in the high jump. At the Baerum Norwegian Indoor Championships, she won the silver in the 60m hurdles. In the heptathlon, Andrea Rooth earned the gold at the Fagernes Norwegian U20 Combined Events Championships, as well as the silver at the Mangekampstevne, while in pentathlon won the gold at Hvam Norwegian U20 Indoor Combined Events Championships.
In 2021, Andrea Rooth proved to be a top Norwegian athlete, winning the gold at the Kristiansand Norwegian Championships in 100m hurdles, and the bronze in 400m hurdles. She earned the gold at the Tallinn European Athletics U20 Championships in 400m hurdles and finished 4th at the European Athletics Team Championships First League in 400m, but succeeded in earning the silver in the 4x400m relay. In the combined events, she earned the heptathlon gold at the Oslo Norwegian U20 Combined Events Championships and the silver at the Sollentuna Combined Events Challenge.
In 2022, Andrea Rooth started the season by winning the 60m, 60m hurdles, and 400m silver medals at the Bassen Sprint and Minibassen and the 100m gold at the Sorvestmesterskapet, before triumphing with the 60m hurdles gold at the Ulsteinvik Norwegian Indoor Championships and pentathlon gold at the Baerum Norwegian Indoor Combined Events Championships. In 60m hurdles, she also earned the bronze at the Aarhus Sprint’n’Jump and competed at the ISTAF Indoor Düsseldorf and Uppsala Nordic Indoor Match, where missed the honors. During the outdoor season, Andrea Rooth won the 100m hurdles gold and 400m hurdles silver at the Stjordal Norwegian Championships. In 100m hurdles, she earned gold at the Malmo Nordic Baltic U23 Championships, and silver at the Jyvaskyla Motonet GP and Trond Mohn Games. She competed at the Munich European Athletics Championships and ISTAF 2022 but failed to earn a medal. In 400m hurdles, however, Andrea Rooth earned the gold at the Malmo Nordic Baltic U23 Championships and the bronze at the Boysen Memorial. She won another national title in the heptathlon at the Hamar Norwegian CE Championships.
In 2023, Andrea Rooth earned another European junior title, triumphing with 400m hurdles gold at the Espoo European Athletics U23 Championships. She competed also at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships and Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division, but missed the medals. However, at the local championships, Andrea Rooth earned the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles titles at the Jessheim Norwegian Championships, as well as the 60m hurdles gold at the Baerum Norwegian Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, she triumphed with the gold at the Bassen Sprint og Minibassen and the bronze at the Karlstad Nordic Indoor Match in 60m hurdles, as well as the gold at the Bislett Games and Norgeslekene and the bronze at the Folksam Grand Prix Malmo in 100m hurdles. In her 400m hurdles special event, Andrea Rooth triumphed with the gold at the Copenhagen Nordic Senior Championships and Norgeslekene. She also continues competing in the combined events, winning the gold at the Moss Norwegian Combined Events Championships and Sandnes Norwegian Indoor Combined Events Championships.
