Norway started with victory the European Women’s Handball Championship. The Thorir Hergeirsson-led team defeated Croatia by 32-23 in the first match from Group A of the championship.
Norway took a lead of 16-14 after the first half, but was unappealable in the second half.
Nora Merk was the top scorer for Norway with 8 goals, while Henny Reistad added 7 goals and Vilde Ingstad scored 5 goals for the victory. For Croatia, Stela Posavec scored 4 goals, but that was from enough for the team to reach the success.
In another match of the first day of the European Women’s Handball Championship, Sweden defeated Serbia by 27-21. The top scorer for the winners was Nathalie Hagman with 9 goals, while Linn Blohm added 6 goals.
