World and European champion Norway continues without mistakes at the European Women’s Handball Championship. The Scandinavians strongly prevailed over Hungary with 32-22 (14-12) in their last Group A match in Ljubljana and finished first in the standings with a full asset of 6 points.
The girls of Thorir Hergeirsson caught up with a hesitant start and a negative result of 6-9 in the 18th minute, reaching the break. In the middle of the second half, the Norwegians already led by 23-16, and shortly before the end, their advance reached 10 goals for the first time at 30-20.
Vilde Ingstad scored 8 goals, while Henny Ella Reistad added 5 goals for the victory of Norway. For Hungary, the top scorer was Katrin Klujber with 6 goals.
Hungary also qualifies for the second phase as the third team in the group with 2 points.
In the other match of the group, Croatia and Switzerland finished 26-26 (14-12). A goal of Katarina Pavlovic 2 seconds before the end gave the draw to Croatia and sent them to second place in the group with 3 points. The Swiss, who led at 26-24 a minute and a half before the end failed to hold and remained the last one point, for which they dropped out of the race.
