Nina Kennedy won the Paris 2024 Olympics title in the women’s pole vault

Nina Kennedy (Australia) won the Paris 2024 Olympics title in the women’s pole vault. The Australian track and field athlete earned the gold medal at the Stade de France with 4.90 meters and dethroned Tokyo 2021 champion Katie Moon (USA). Both athletes shared the women’s pole vault world title in Budapest in 2023, but in the Olympic arena in Paris, the Australian sat alone on the Olympic throne.

Nina Kennedy cleared 4.90m on her first attempt, then fouled out at 4.95m and stopped as being a sure gold medalist.

Katie Moon, 33, finished second with a season-best 4.85m. After a foul at 4.90m and a successful attempt for Kennedy at that height, Katie Moon cleared the bar at 4.95m but failed on both of her attempts at that height to cope.

Alysha Newman improved Canada’s national record and also won the bronze medal with 4.85m. She stayed in third as she and Katie Moon both cleared the height on their second attempt, but Alysha Newman had one fault at 4.60m.
