Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m team may lose its medals from the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

An athlete from Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m team competing at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games has tested positive for doping, which could result in loss of the medals for the whole team.

Tobi Amusan, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha won the title in a new African record of 42.10 sec. However, Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha tested positive for doping.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has informed the local athletics federation pending the opening of the athlete’s “B” sample.

If she is found guilty, the team automatically forfeits its medals, ranking, and African record.
