Natalya Antyukh loses her 400m hurdles title at the London 2012 Olympics amid violation of anti-doping rules

The results of the Russian hurdler Natalya Antyukh from the period July 2012 – June 2013 have been canceled due to violation of anti-doping rules, announced the Athletics Integrity Unit. It means the Russian loses her Olympic 400m hurdles title from the London 2012 Olympics. The new gold medalist is the American athlete Lashinda Demus.

The retroactive ban, doled out by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, can be appealed.

The 41-year-old Natalya Antyukh is currently serving a sentence until 2025 for doping. She was previously banned for four years and all her results after June 2013 were canceled.

“Following allegations by the Athletics Integrity Unit, based on data from the Laboratory Information System (LIMS), Russian track and field athlete Natalya Antyukh has been penalized for using banned substances. Her results from 15 July 2012 to 29 June 2013 have been canceled”, says the statement the Athletics Integrity Unit.

Natalya Antyukh will keep her silver medal in 4×400m relays and the bronze in 400m in Athens 2004 Olympics.
