The reigning champion Naomi Osaka started her participation in the Australian Open with a confident victory. The Japanese defeated Colombian María Camila Osorio Serrano with 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).

She led in the result all the time, and only at the end of the first set there was a little hesitation, allowing a break, but it happened with a score of 5:1 and it did not turn out to be very important.

In the next round, Naomi Osaka will face Madison Brengle, who won her match versus Diana Yastremska, who retired in the third set at the result of 5:0.

The fifth-seeded Maria Sakkari also qualified for the second round of the AO2022. She had a very contested battle with the German player Tatjana Maria but managed to win by 2-0 (6:4, 7:6). Her next opponent will be Qinwen Zheng from China, who Aliaksandra Sasnovich with 2-1 (3:6, 6:1, 7:6).

The fifteenth-seeded Elina Svitolina also continues for the second round of the Australian Open 2022. She won by 2-0 (6:1, 7:6) over the French player Fiona Ferro. In the next round, she will face another Frenchwoman – Harmony Tan, who won versus Yulia Putintseva with 2-0 (6:3, 6:3).
