Naomi Osaka said goodbye to medals at Tokyo Olympics

Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka was defeated in the third round of the Tokyo Olympics, two rounds before the medals. She was defeated by the Czech player Marketa Vondrousova with 2-0 (6:1; 6:4) for a little more than 1 hour.

The match started terribly for Naomi Osaka, who lost the first set with 6:1 and had 3 breaks of her serving games.

However, the second set started better with her first break and taking a lead with 2:0. However, Marketa Vondrousova was obviously not ready to surrender and returned to the match after winning her serving game and returning the break in the longest game of the match. The two players won their next serving game and the result was a draw, until the Czech made another break in the 10th game, to win the set with 6:4 and the match with 2-0.

Thus, Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, who made 32 unforced errors in the match, said goodbye to medals at her home Olympic games.

Naomi Osaka isn’t the first big name to lose early in the women’s draw. World No. 1 and Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty lost in the opening round to Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo. Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus also made an early exit, losing to Croatia’s Donna Vekic in the second round.

Marketa Vondrousova, a 2019 French Open finalist, will face Paula Badosa, who eliminated Nadia Podoroska with 2-0, at the quarter-finals.
