Mujinga Kambundji and Ditaji Kambundji achieved the most impressive results at the Swiss National Indoor Athletics Championships just ahead of the European Championships in Istanbul from March 2-5.
World indoor 60m champion Mujinga Kambundji clocked 7.06 sec already in the 60m semi-finals and stopped the timers at 7.03 seconds in the final. Her achievement is also No 1 in Europe for the season. Second is the British athlete Dina Asher-Smith with her national record of 7.04 sec set in Karlsruhe.
Mujinga Kambundji’s younger sister, Ditaji, broke her own national record in the 60m hurdles. The 20-year-old hurdler ran 7.93 sec in the series, and crossed the line in 7.81 sec in the final. With this achievement, the Swiss ranked second in the European rankings for the season. On top place for the season is the Polish athlete Pia Skrzyszowska with 7.78 sec.
Reigning European indoor champion Angelica Moser cleared 4.50m in the pole vault for the title, while Annik Kalin won the LNG jump with 6.52m.
