Molly Caudery won the pole vault gold at the Toulouse Capitole Perche with a new personal best and national record

Molly Caudery has set a new national record for Great Britain in the pole vault after winning the Toulouse Capitole Perche competition with a result of 4.92m. The achievement of the 24-year-old British athlete was not only her personal best and the record of her country, but also the best achievement in the world since 2021.

Molly Caudery secured victory in the competition on her first attempt at 4.61m and continued to raise the bar until she bettered Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist Holly Bradshaw’s mark of 4.90m. The French pole vaulter Marie-Julie Bonnin won the silver at the Toulouse Capitole Perche with 4.51m.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Molly Caudery will aim for the first Olympic medal of her career. In March, she won the world indoor championship title in Glasgow. Earlier this month, however, she only managed bronze at the Roma European Athletics Championships with 4.73m.

Her personal best to date was 4.86m, set in Rouen in February.
