Molly Caudery won the pole vault gold at the Perche Elite Tour Rouen and set a new season’s world-best

The British athlete Molly Caudery set a new season’s world best in the women’s pole vault after winning the Perche Elite Tour Rouen event in France, with a personal best of 4.86m. She cleared this height on the first try.

The Commonwealth Games silver medalist opened the competition with 4.53m, which she cleared on her first attempt. She then needed three attempts at 4.63m to advance. However, the British athlete found her rhythm and at 4.73m she managed again from her first try. After one mistake at 4.80m, she cleared 4.86m on the first try and recorded her personal best.

Molly Caudery also attacked 4.91m, which would have been a new British indoor national record, but at this stage that height proved too much for her.

Budapest world bronze medalist Wilma Murto (Finland) finished second and Bridget Williams third, both clearing 4.80m.

Molly Caudery already won the national indoor title earlier, winning the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships with 4.85m and targets a medal from the Glasgow World Indoor Athletics Championships 2024.
