Liliya Shakirova received a 2-year sentence from USADA. The 29-year-old UFC fighter from Uzbekistan tested positive for meldonium. This happened on December 5, 2020, in her homeland.

Before a fighter enters the UFC, she must report to USADA if she has been taking banned substances. Liliya Shakirova did not notify USADA of the use of banned substances. If she had done it, there would have been no punishment for her.

Liliya Shakirova’s sentence begins on December 5, 2020, and will expire on the same date in 2022. She has an 8-2 record in MMA and made her UFC debut in late 2020. She lost her fight versus Lauren Murphy by a rear-naked choke submission in the second round.

Following the USADA ban, Lilia Shakirova was released from the UFC and her contract was terminated.
