Mizuki Matsuda broke the record for the women’s marathon in Osaka

Mizuki Matsuda broke the record for the women’s marathon in Osaka, after improving her own personal achievement to 2:20:52. With this result, she won the race in Japan.

So far, the peak of the Osaka Women’s Marathon was 2:21:11 last year’s Mao Ichiyama.

“I could not achieve my goal today. I am happy that my hard training paid off well. I think the result was good because I ran aggressively from the beginning. I just hope that I will be selected in the team for the World Cup”, said the lucky winner Mizuki Matsuda after the final.

Mizuki Matsuda is a Japanese long-distance runner, who competed in the women’s 10,000m at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. In July 2017, she placed 3rd in the 10,000m run at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships. She has been a national champion at the 10,000m distance in 2017 and 2018, with a personal best of 31:39. In January 2018, Mizuki Matsuda won the Osaka International Women’s Marathon with a time of 2:22:44, in her marathon debut. She won the 2020 Osaka International Ladies Marathon with a personal best of 2:21:47, while in March 2021 she won Nagoya Women’s Marathon in 2:21:51.
