Mirra Andreeva eliminated the 6th-seeded Ons Jabeur in the second round of the Australian Open

The 16-year-old Russian talent Mirra Andreeva eliminated the 6th-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) in the second round of the Australian Open. The Russian tennis player gave only 2 game to her opponent and closed the match with 2-0 (6:0, 6:2) in 56 minutes. This is the first win of Mirra Andreeva against Top 10 player.

During the match Mirra Andreeva 13 winners, while her opponent recorded 24 unforced errors. Definitely, it was one of the weakest matches of Ons Jabeur, where she saved only 2 out of 7 breakpoint for her opponent and scored only 8 points in the first set, which she lost on zero.

In the third round of the Australian Open, Mirra Andreeva will face Diane Parry (France), who eliminated Kamilla Rakhimova (Russia) after 2-0 (7:5. 6:2).

Another Russian talent Maria Timofeeva also advanced to the third round of the tournament after eliminated the formed world’s number one Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) after 2-1 (1:6, 6:4, 6:1). In the next round, the Russian player will face the 10th-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil), who defeated Alina Korneeva (Russia) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2).

Meanwhile, Storm Hunter (Australia) defeated Laura Siegemund (Germany) by 2-1 (6:4, 3:6, 6:3), while Alycia Parks (USA) eliminated Leylah Fernandez (Canada) after 2-0 (7:5, 6:4).

The 9th-seeded Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) won her match versus Tamara Korpatsch (Germany) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:2).
