Mirra Andreeva (Russia) defeated Magda Linette (Poland) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 China Open. The Russian tennis player cruised through her opponent in only 74 minutes after recording 7 breaks in the match.
Mirra Andreeva started strongly by breaking the serve of her opponent in the very first game of the match. After it, she saved two breakpoints, but confirmed the break and took a lead by 2:0. The Russian player continue playing powerful and accurate and registered two more breaks, extending the lead to 5:0. In the sixth game, Magda Linette won her first game, breaking the serve of her opponent. However, it was quite far than enough and she suffered another break, which allowed Mirra Andreeva to close the set at 6:1.
The second set started with exchange of breaks for 1:1 and later for 3:2 in favor of the Russian tennis player. It was followed by another break for her and Mirra Andreeva succeeded to close the set at 6:3.
In the next round, Mirra Andreeva will face the winner between Amanda Anisimova (USA) and Qinwen Zheng (China).
