Mikaela Shiffrin avoided serious injury

Alpine skiing star Mikaela Shiffrin is working on her comeback after a recent serious fall on the slopes. The 28-year-old World Cup overall leader crashed into the safety nets after losing control during the downhill last Friday in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

The American avoided serious injury by receiving first aid on the track.

“Mikaela Shiffrin feels relatively well, given the circumstances. Nothing serious has happened, no broken bones, no torn ligaments”, commented the director of the US Alpine Skiing Team, Patrick Riml.

Five-time Grand Crystal Globe winner Mikaela Shiffrin could return to the track for the slalom and giant slalom races on February 10 and 11 in Andorra, but a final decision has yet to be made.
