Melbourne City Women reached a last-minute turnover versus the hosts of Newcastle Women in Round 5 of the Australia A-League Women. Thus, Melbourne City Women won the match by 3-2 and secured their second position in the standings.

Daniela Galic gave a lead for the hosts of Melbourne City Women in the 8th minute, but Emily van Egmond and Lara Gooch turned over the score for Newcastle Women already in the first half. Thus, on the break, Newcastle Women was leading by 2-1. In the 77th minute, Holly McNamara equalized and again she in the second minute of the stoppage time brought the complete turnover and brought the victory to Melbourne City Women.

In other matches from the round, Brisbane Roar Women lost to Western United Women by 0-1 after the goal of Kahli Johnson in the 10th minute. Sydney Women achieved their second win in the season after defeating Adelaide Women by 3-1 with two goals from Fiona Worts (20′ and 26′) and one goal by Princess Ibini (79′) from a penalty, while Hannah Blake (45+3′) was accurate for Adelaide Women.

Leaders in the standings are Perth Women and Melbourne City Women with 13 points, followed by Wellington Phoenix Women with 9 points. On the bottom are Canberra Women, Adelaide Women, and WS Wanderers Women, each with 1 point.
