Mayar Sherif (Egypt) started with a convincing victory at the clay tournament WTA 250 Morocco Open in Rabat. She defeated Kateryna Baindl (Ukraine) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:3) in 1:34 hours.

Two breaks in the first set and two more in the second set were enough for the 3rd-seeded Egyptian tennis player to claim the victory and qualify for the second round of the tournament.

In the second round, Mayar Sherif will face the winner between Kristina “Kiki” Mladenovic (France) and Julia Riera (Argentina).

In another match from the first day of the WTA 250 Morocco Open in Rabat, Leolia Jeanjean (France) eliminated Gabriela Lee (Romania) by 2-1 (7:6, 5:7, 6:3) in a match that lasted exactly 3 hours.

Martina Trevisan (Italy) and Sloane Stephens (USA) are the other top seeds of the tournament.
