Mathilde Gremaud won the slopestyle freestyle skiing title at the Beijing 2022 Olympics

Swiss freestyle skier Mathilde Gremaud won the slopestyle title at the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

The Swiss triumphed on the track at the Genting Snow Park complex in Zhangjiakou with 86.56 points from her best second descent.

Thus, the 22-year-old Mathilde Gremaud already has a full set of Olympic medals in her career. She took her first Olympic gold today after silver in the same event from PyeongChang 2018 and bronze in the Big Air, which she won on February 8.

In second place with 86.23 points was the world champion and local favorite Eileen Gu. The 18-year-old Gu, who is a native of the United States but competes for China, made a very strong last third run but remained on 0.33 points of a second Olympic title in Beijing after winning the Big Air a week ago.

The 19-year-old Kelly Sildaru finished third with 82.06 points and brought the first medal to Estonia in the Chinese capital and the eighth overall in the country’s history at the Winter Olympics. This is Estonia’s first Winter Olympic medal in this event.

Kelly Sildaru is also the champion of the Youth Olympics in Lausanne 2020.

The previous Estonian with a medal was Kristina Smigun-Vahi, who won silver in the 10km freestyle ski race at Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
