Mary Moraa won the 800m gold at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest

Mary Moraa (Kenya) won the 800m gold at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. The Kenyan athlete won the honor with a personal best of 1:56.03 min, after she had saved the most strength for the final meters.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics and 2022 Eugene world silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson remained second with silver and a time of 1:56.34 min, while the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and 2022 Eugene world champion Athing Mu (USA) won the bronze bronze with 1:56.61 min.

Thus, the 800m medalists from last year’s World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon swapped places at the Budapest this year.

Mary Moraa is a Kenyan athlete who specializes in the 800m. She also won the gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and became the 2022 Diamond League 800m champion. She is the Kenyan record holder for the 400m.
