Norwegian biathlete Marte Olsbu Roeiseland won the title at the Women’s 10km biathlon pursuit, being far ahead of her opponents. This is her second consecutive gold medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympics, after her success in the sprint two days ago.
Second in the Women’s 10km biathlon pursuit was Elvira Oeberg (Sweden), while the bronze went to Tiril Eckhoff (Norway).
Marte Olsbu Roeiseland started with a lead of 31 sec over Elvira Oeberg, and in the final, the difference between the two was 1:36.5 min. The main reason for this increase in the gap between the two was the almost perfect shooting of Roeiseland, who made only one mistake.
At the same time, Elvira Oeberg made a total of three penalty laps but managed to fight for her second silver from the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Today’s bronze went to Tiril Eckhoff, who despite three misses managed to win eight positions compared to 11th place in the sprint.
The bronze for the Norwegian came with some luck, after her teammate Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, who was third at the beginning of the last lap, had problems in the last kilometer, in which she lost more than a minute, finishing 14th. The young Norwegian collapsed in the final and was even taken away by the medical staff. Later, the Norwegian team confirmed that Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold is now recovering, but medical staff is caring for her.
“There’s something special about the Olympics. I haven’t slept well in the last two nights. I was just trying to concentrate on the race”, said Marte Olsbu Roeiseland after the race.
