Marketa Vondrousova continue her winning series and qualified for the finals of the women’s tennis tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She defeated Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals by 2-0 (6:3; 6:1) for a little more than an hour.
The first set started with an exchange of games for both players and was a draw by 5th game when Czech Marketa Vondrousova took an advantage of 3:2, which she kept by the end of the set, winning by 6:3. Elina Svitolina was far from performing well and her best form. The high humidity and the hot weather possibly affected the Ukrainian player, who was not a serious opponent in the whole match.
The second set started with three consecutive games for Marketa Vondrousova, who took a lead by 3:0. At 4:1 she made another break of the Elina Svitolina’s service and won the set by 6:1, and thus the match by 2-0.
Marketa Vondrousova will face Belinda Bencic in the final of the Tokyo Olympics tennis tournament.
