Marileidy Paulino won the 400m Olympic gold

Budapest 2023 400m world champion Marileidy Paulino (Dominican Republic) won Olympic gold in Paris Games after her silver medal in Tokyo three years ago. Marileidy Paulino earned the title at the Stade de France with a new Olympic record of 48.17 sec. She sent to history the top Olympic achievement of Marie-Jose Perec – 48.25 sec, achieved at the Games in Atlanta in 1996.

Marileidy Paulino also became the first Olympic gold medalist in the history of her country.

Another world champion in the 400m – the Bahraini athlete Salwa Eid Naser from Doha 2019 won the silver Olympic medal with 48.53 sec.

Rome 2024 European champion Natalia Kaczmarek (Poland) made another under-49-seconds run to win bronze in 48.98 sec. She brought Poland a second Olympic medal in the women’s 400m after Irena Szewinska’s gold in 1976.

The Top 5 was completed by Rhasidat Adeleke (Ireland) and Amber Anning (Great Britain).
