Russian tennis talent Maria Timofeeva will face Ukrainian tennis player Kateryna Baindl in the final of the WTA 250 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Maria Timofeeva defeated Nadia Podoroska (Argentina) by 2-1 (7:6, 3:6, 6:3) in 3:14 hours. Both players made two breaks each in the first set, thus moving it into a tiebreak, which Maria Timofeeva lost two set point before finally winning it. Nadia Podoroska equalized after making three breaks in the second set, which bproved to be enough for cloing the set at 6:3.
In the third set, both players exchanged two breaks to 3:3, before the Russian tennis player to take the initiative and win the next 3 games with two breaks and close the set and thus win the match.
Kateryna Baindl on the other had defeated Claire Liu (USA) by 2-0 (7:5, 7:6) in 2:35 hours. The match was not easy for the Ukrainian at all despite the straight-set victory. Kateryna Baindl saved three set points in the first set, while in the second she needed a tiebreak to lose the match.
Maria Timofeeva and Kateryna Baindl will play each for the first WTA title, although Kateryna Baindl has onw WTA 125 title inning the WTA 125 Dalian Women’s Tennis Open in 2017.
