The Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari started with а victory at the WTA Finals, which takes place in Fort Worth (USA).
In the first round in Group B, Maria Sakkari defeated Jessica Pegula (USA) бъ 2-0 (7:6, 7:6) in 2:14 hours.
The two also played in the final of the WTA 1000 Guadalajara Open in Mexico eight days ago, when Jessica Pegula won by 2-0 in 71 minutes.
This time, however, only the first set lasted 73 minutes. The match was extremely equal. Maria Sakkari and Jessica Pegula won exactly 52 of the 104 points played in the first set, both converting three of their five break points.
Maria Sakkari had a slight advantage in the second set, but again it came down to a tiebreak. In the 12th game, Jessica Pegula saved two match points, but her Greek opponent took four points in a row at the end of the tiebreak and closed the match with her third match point.
