Sana Grillo is a Maltese track and field athlete, who competes in the pole vault and sprints. She is a two-time national champion and one of the biggest talents in the country. Her personal best is 3.70m, achieved in the 2023 Marsa Malta Championships.
Sana Grillo was born on November 16, 2000. She started in gymnastics initially, winning a silver at the GSSE 2015, but later turned to athletics and started competing at local scholar championships, showing great talent and winning many medals.
Sana Grillo started her competitive athletics career only in 2021, competing at the Marsa Winter Championships, but reached her first major honor later in the season, winning the pole vault silver at the Marsa Malta Championships with 3.05m.
In 2022, Sana Grillo improved her results and already won her first national title, winning the gold at the Marsa Malta Championships with 3.30m. Meanwhile, during the season she competed at the Marsa Championships of the Small States of Europe and San Vito al Tagliamento Atletica 2000 Meeting, finishing 5th and 7th, respectively.
Sana Grillo won her second national pole vault title in 2023 at Marsa Malta Championships, setting a personal best of 3.70m. Meanwhile, she won the bronze at the Marsa XIX Games of the Small States of Europe with 3.60m and competed at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships Third Division, but missed the medal for a while, finishing 4th. In July, she competed at the Kraljevo Balkan Championships, again missing the medal for a while, finishing 5th.
Sana Grillo is one of the most talented young athletes in Malta. She has a bright future in athletics and next seasons she should appear in some of the big international championships.
