Madison Keys (USA) qualified for the semi-finals of the US Open 2023 after defeating the 9th-seeded and reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4) in 1:21 hours of play.

Madison Keys started the match more aggressive and achieved an early break already in the first serve game of her opponent. She continue playing strongly and made another break to lead by 4:0 and after winning her serve, although saving two breakpoints, extended her advance to 5:0. Marketa Vondrousova won her first game in the match only in the sixth game to reduce to 5:1, but her opponent closed the set in the next game at 6:1 from the third setpoint.
The second set was quite more equal with both players winning their serving games. However, in the 8th game Madison Keys needed to save five breakpoints, but eventually closed the game in her favor and equalized to 4:4. In the next game, Marketa Vondrousova gave a breakpoint to her opponent, which Madison Keys converted immediately and thus took a lead by 5:4 and on her serve closed the set in the third match point.
Thus, Madison Keys qualified for the semi-finals of the US Open 2023 and will face the second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka. The American tennis player is the US Open finalist in 2017, but never won a Grand Slam trophy.
