Madison Keys made a convincing start to her participation in the WTA 500 San Diego Open

The American tennis player Madison Keys made a convincing start to her participation in the WTA 500 San Diego Open with a prize fund of 757,900 USD. She prevailed over Australian qualifier Ellen Perez by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4) in an hour and seven minutes of play.

Madison Keys made two breaks in the first set, which were enough to win by 6:1. In the second set, the forces were more equal, as the American lost two of her serves, but won three on her opponent’s serve and prevailed again with 6:4.

In other matches of the first round, Italian Martina Trevisan prevailed over Colombian tennis player Camila Osorio by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).

Louisa Chirico defeated Alison Riske-Amritraj by 2-1 (1:6, 7:5, 7:6) in a hard-fought match.

Canadian Bianca Andreescu also qualified for the next round, after her rival from Brazil, Beatriz Haddad Maia, withdrew.

In the second round of the tournament, the first two seeds in the scheme will also be included – the Polish player Iga Swiatek, who is the leader in the WTA world ranking, as well as the Spaniard Paula Badosa.
