Madison Keys eliminated the second-seeded Elina Svitolina in the first round of the WTA 250 Adelaide 2

The American tennis player Madison Keys eliminated the second-seeded Ukrainian Elina Svitolina with 2-0 (6:2, 6:4) in the first round of the WTA 250 tennis tournament in Adelaide, Australia with a prize fund of 239,477 USD. This is the second preparatory race in Adelaide before the start of the Australian Open.

The 26-year-old Madison Keys made 14 aces and won 84.8% of the points on the first serve in the match against Elina Svitolina, which lasted 77 minutes. The American broke twice the service of the Ukrainian player in the first set, led by 4:0 and closed the part without any problems – 6:2.

Madison Keys, who is 87th in the WTA ranking, made an early break in the second set to lead by 3:1 and was confident on her own service to win the set by 6:4, and thus the match by 2-0.

“I’m very happy with my performance. I returned the ball very well, and that helped me a lot to succeed. I’m trying to enjoy the moment a little more. Last year I was too deep in wins and losses, and I didn’t enjoy tennis enough”, said Madison Keys

The French player Alize Cornet (WTA No 62) was eliminated at the start of the tournament by the Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (WTA No 64) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) defeat by the 64th Spaniard in the world, Nuria Parisas-Diaz.

The sixth-seeded Czech player Marketa Vondrousova made a turnaround against Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic to win the match by 2-1 (5:7, 6:4, 6:3) and will play in the second round against Croatian player Ana Konjuh, who eliminated Australian Daria Saville with 2-0 (6:2, 7:6).

Earlier, the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk won her match versus American Shelby Rogers by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4).

The American Alison Riske also qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Adelaide 2, defeating Polish player Magda Linette by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).
