Lyon surprised Paris SG in the first Champions League Women quarter-final

The women football team of Paris SG was unpleasantly surprised by the visitors of Lyon in the first match of the quarter-finals of the Champions League Women, after losing by 0-1. The guests got the important win after the penalty goal of the captain Wendie Renard at the end of the match (86th minute). The second leg is on March 31st when both teams will meet again in a battle for qualifying to the semi-finals.

The match started with higher possession for the hosts of Paris SG. The team made several goal attempts and shots, but the goalkeeper of the visitors, Sarah Bouhaddi, made fantastic saves. Thus, the first half ended goallessly.

However, the second half was totally different. The higher possession was for the visitors of Lyon, who made some dangerous attacks. Moreover, their defense was stable and did not allow any shots in the target. Kadeisha Buchanan and captain Wendie Renard were shining for the team. And when the match was running draw, the referee gave a penalty for Lyon, which was scored by the captain Wendie Renard, which brought the win for the visitors.

Lyon players are looking to continue their remarkable run of winning the Champions League in each of the last five seasons and are in a strong position to reach the semi-finals.
