Luana Carolina achieved her second UFC victory versus Poliana Botelho by a split decision

Luana Carolina (7-2-0) achieved her second UFC victory after winning her fight versus Poliana Botelho (8-4-0) at UFC Vegas 25 by a split decision.

The first round started with exchanges of punches and kicks by both Flyweight fighters with Poliana Botelho being more aggressive and even achieving a takedown. However, the second round was much different with Luana Carolina taking part of the initiative. The actions were balanced. More aggressive, Luana Carolina pitted Poliana Botelho against the grid a few times and hit more knees in the clinch, in addition to defending all of the opponent’s attempts to fall.

Despite the good and strong punches by Poliana Botelho, the better on the floor was Luana Carolina, which possibly was the most important for the final decision.

At the end, both fighters expected to be declared as winners, but the scorecards gave a split decision for Luana Carolina.

Poliana Botelho signed a contract to face Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Vegas 25 on May 1, and then said “yes” to the UFC when Maya Bueno Silva was offered as a replacement. In the end, Botelho will be sharing the octagon with Luana Carolina, who took the spot after “Sheetara” suffered a back injury
