Liudmila Samsonova (Russia) won the title of the tennis tournament the WTA 250 Libema Open in S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, after defeating Bianca Andreescu (Canada) in the final with 2-1 (4:6, 6:3, 7:5) in two and a half hours of play.
Bianca Andreescu, a 2019 US Open finalist, won the first set by 6:4 after both players broke three times in a row, two of which went in favor of the Canadian player. However, in the second set, the roles were reversed and the Russian tennis player led by 3:0, Bianca Andreescu managed to return a break, but again lost her serve and lost by 3:6.
Liudmila Samsonova also led in the third part with 3:1, but Bianca Andreescu managed to break through and equalize at 4:4. However, she lost the 11th game on her serve, and then the Russian closed the match on her serve, scoring her first match point.
This was the second match of the day for the Russian player, as in the morning she finished the interrupted semi-final against her compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova with a victory.
Liudmila Samsonova is ranked N 15 in the world and was second-seeded in the tournament main scheme. It was the fifth individual title for the Russian tennis player.
