Czech tennis talent Linda Fruhvirtova won her first WTA trophy at the WTA 250 Chennai Open after a victory over the third-seeded Magda Linette by 2-1 (4:6, 6:3, 6:4). The match lasted 2 hours and 41 minutes.
Linda Fruhvirtova started hard the first set, and despite running game-for-game, she was winning her serve very hard and was forced to safe four break points in the first three games. On the other hand, Magda Linette was very accurate and won her serve games easily. In the ninth game, the Polish tennis player succeeded to break the young Czech and thus served for the set, winning on zero and taking the set.
Linda Fruhvirtova improved her serve and started being more accurate in the second set. It was again running with break until the 8th game, when Czech tennis talent received two breakpoints and broke her opponent already in the first to take an important advantage. She served for the set and won on the second set point to equalize the score.
Magda Linette served first in the third set and turnover over the game from 0-30. In the second game, Linda Fruhvirtova was forced to save a break point and passed through 2 deuces to finally equalize the games to 1:1. The Polish tennis player won her next severe game on zero and even broke the serve of her Czech opponent to take a comfortable lead of 4:1. “I was feeling good in my game, and I knew that I could do a good result here, but it was much better than we all probably expected”, said Linda Fruhvirtova. “I’m pretty much in shock. It feels amazing, and I feel like it’s a great start for me to keep building on this”, added she.
