Czech talent Linda Fruhvirtova qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Chennai Open. The teenager defeated Sweden’s player Rebecca Peterson by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2) in 1:26 hours.
Linda Fruhvirtova started the match hard not for the first time and was behind her opponent with 0:3 and a break. However, she found the right path and equalized to 3:3. Both players exchanged a serving game before another break for the Czech talent and she succeeded to close the set by 6:4.
Linda Fruhvirtova took a lead already at the beginning of the second set with a break in the third game. She won all her serving games and even got another break in the seventh game to secure the win by 6:2.
In the quarter-finals, Linda Fruhvirtova will face the winner between the second-seeded Varvara Gracheva and Carol Zhao (Canada).
Another quarter-finalist is the Japanese tennis player Nao Hibino, who defeated Qiang Wang from China by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
The top-seeded Alison Riske-Amritraj was defeated already in the first round by Anastasia Gasanova, who will face Katie Swan and the winner will be the opponent of Nao Hibino.
