For the huge regret of all fans of the Alpine skiing, the bad weather in the Swiss winter center Lenzerheide caused the cancellation of the second consecutive day in the final phase of the World Cup 2020/21. After yesterday’s cancellations, today the bad weather caused the failure of the Super-D in men and women.
Under International Ski Federation (FIS) rules, canceled races during finals are not rescheduled.
Over two hours, the organizers were trying to prepare the track and try to save the important competitions, but because of the soft snow and bad visibility (only one door forward) thought that the safety of the skiers was best not to race. So we already have the new champions in the Discipline Super-G – Lara Gut-Behrami (four victories of six rounds).
Lara Gut-Behrami, who won two world titles in February, already won her third small crystalline globe in Super-D discipline, with others in 2014 and 2016. She joins the prestigious company of Renate Goetschl (3 Globes), Carole Merle (4), Lindsey Vonn (5) among the queens of speed.
However, she lost a wonderful opportunity to overtake Petra Vlhova at the top of the World Cup’s general ranking this season.
Lara Gut-Behrami is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and super-G.
