The women’s basketball team Kotka Peli Karhut (PeKa) is only a win from defending their title at Finland’s Basketball Championship. PeKa defeated Torpan Pojat Helsinki by 103-93 (23-17, 21-18, 17-23, 17-20, 25-15) after overtime in the second-leg match of the final playoff. Thus, the reining champion Kotka Peli Karhut took a lead with 2-0 in the overall matches and is close to win the title.

Natalie Day was the most valuable player for Kotka Peli Karhut with a double-double – 42 pts, 11 rebs, and 2 asts. Donica Cosby finished the match with 19 pts, 4 rebs, and 6 asts, while Roosa Kosonen made 14 pts, 7 rebs, and 4 asts.

The most valuable player in the match was Ilmar’I Thomas also with a double-double – 44 pts, 16 rebs, and 6 asts.

The third leg match from the Finland Women’s Basketball Championship final is on April 21.

The women’s basketball team Kotka Peli Karhut is the reining champion but also is the hegemon in the local championship. They won the last 5 seasons.
