Keely Hodgkinson triumphed with the 800m Olympics title in Paris

After two silver medals at the world championships and one at the Olympics, Keely Hodgkinson won the Olympic title in the 800m in Paris. The 22-year-old British athlete produced a magnificent run in the final to take the gold medal in 1:56.72 min. This is Britain’s first Olympic gold in the women’s 800m since Athens 2004, when Kelly Holmes took the title.

Only 22 years old, Keely Hodgkinson already has an Olympic title and two European titles in indoor and outdoor, and the only gold medal missing from her collection is from a world championship.

The silver medal in women’s 800m went to Tsige Duguma (Ethiopia), who improved her personal record with 1:57.15 min. Current world champion Mary Moraa (Kenya) earned the bronze medal with 1:57.42 min.

Shafiqua Maloney (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) and Renelle Lamote (France) remained without honors on 4th and 5th place, respectively.
