Keely Hodgkinson won 800m gold at the London Diamond League with a new national record

Two-time European 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson has shown she is ready to attack Olympics gold in Paris later this summer. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist won the London Diamond League 800m gold with a new national record, a new tournament record and a season’s world best of 1:54.61 min. With this result, Keely Hodgkinson went to sixth place in the all-time ranking of the event. It is also the fastest run in the event in six years.

Keely Hodgkinson was not the only to show a strong result. In total, six of the top seven competitors improved their personal bests, and two of them also set national records. And the ten female athletes in this run finished under 1:59.00 min.

However, the dominance of the first three places was entirely for the hosts from Great Britain. Jemma Reekie finished second with a personal record with 1:55.61 min, and Georgia Bell came third with a personal best of 1:56.28 min.

The Top 5 were completed by Natoya Goule (Jamaica) and Renelle Lamote (France), who finished in 1:56.83 min and 1:57.06 min.
