Katie Moon won the pole vault diamond trophy in Eugene

Katie Moon won the pole vault diamond trophy at the Diamond League Final in Eugene after setting a new meeting record of 4.86m. The American athlete won the fierce competition among the top athletes in the world.

The silver went to 2023 Istanbul World Indoor Championships silver medalist Tina Sutej (Slovenia) with 4.81m, while the American pole vault star Sandi Morris won the bronze with 4.71m.

The Finnish athlete Wilma Murto remained 4th, while the 2023 Budapest world co-champion Nina Kennedy (Australia) remained 5th with 4.56m. The Italian Roberta Bruni finished last.

The pole vault event started strongly for the favorites, Katie Moon, Sandi Morris, and Nina Kennedy, attacking directly 4.56m, and all of them took the height from the first attempt.

Wilma Murto, Tina Sutej, and Roberta Bruni, started at 4.41m, with the Italian even making two faults at this height. However, all covered the height and targeted 4.56m, where Roberta Bruni lost another two attempts to overcame it. Wilma Murto also had one fail.

Sandi Morris overcame the 4.71m height from the first attempt, while Katie Moon and Tina Sutej made one fault before taking the height. Wilma Murto made one fail, but overcame the height. Thus, Katie Moon won her first pole vault diamond trophy, adding it to the 2022 Eugene and 2023 Budapest World titles, as well as Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medal.
