The pole vault stars Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy shared the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last month, but only one of them can win the Diamond Trophy in Eugene on Saturday. The American and Australian will square off again in just a few days to decide who is most worthy of the ultimate victory in the 2023 Diamond League Women’s Pole Vault.
However, Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy will not be the only contenders for the honor. They will be joined by Olympic silver medalist Sandi Morris, who missed out on the honors at the World Championships and will now seek revenge in front of her American fans.
The other competitors include the 2023 European indoor champion and World’s bronze medalist Wilma Murto (Finland), the 2022 World’s indoor bronze medalist Tina Sutej (Slovenia) and the Italian pole vault veteran Roberta Bruni.
Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy are on the top this season with 4.90m, but any of the rest pole vaulters can bring the surprise and win the Diamond Trophy.
