Katie Boulter won the title at the WTA 250 Rothesay Open Nottingham

The British tennis player Katie Boulter won the title at the WTA 250 Rothesay Open Nottingham after defeating her compatriot Jodie Burrage by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3) in 75 minutes. This was the first WTA final for the both players, who had fantastic performance at the tournament so far.

Katie Boulter, who is world’s No 77, started the match strongly with a break already in the first game. Behind her excellent serve, Boulter struck the ball freely off both wings, dominating the baseline as she constantly looked to move forward and impose herself. In the fifth game she scored another break to take a lead of 5:1 and thus closed the set at 6:3.

The development of the second set was not much different with Katie Boulter taking a lead of 3:0 and kept this advance by the end to close it again by 6:3. She finished with 21 winners and only 15 unforced errors, a clean, quality performance worthy of the occasion.

“I dreamed of this moment – to win this tournament – as a little girl when I was four years old. Having come here as a fan and now as a player and somehow finding a way to win it means more than everything to me”, said the winner.

Thus, Katie Boulter won her first WTA title after having 7 ITF title so far. She was ranked the No 10 junior tennis player in the world in March 2014.
