Katerina Siniakova won the title at the WTA 250 Slovenia Open in Portoroz

Czech tennis player Katerina Siniakova won the title at the WTA 250 Slovenia Open in Portoroz. In a match that lasted 3 hours, she defeated the Wimbledon 2022 champion Elena Rybakina by 2-1 (6:7, 7:6, 6:4).

The first set started terribly for Katerina Siniakova, as she was behind her opponent by 0:4. However, she did not retreat and returned to the court, registering two breaks and saving 5 set balls. The match went into a tiebreak, which, however, was won by Elena Rybakina with 7-4.

The second set was running without breaks and both players won their serve games. Elena Rybakina was first to break the serve of her opponent in the 7th game and took a lead by 4:3. However, Katerina Siniakova again did not retreated and returned the break from the third breakpoint. Then, both players won their serve games to turn the match again in a tiebreak. This time, Katerina Siniakova was luckier and lead by 6-3 and had four set balls. Despite she lost the first three of them, finally succeeded to win the tiebreak and the set.

In the third set, Elena Rybakina took a lead by a break, but Katerina Siniakova returned it immediately. The Czech player took another break to win the set and the match.

Thus, Katerina Siniakova won the title at the WTA 250 Slovenia Open in Portoroz. This is her third WTA title.
